The Thursday Injury Report Line That Actually Matters This Week
Skill-position injuries move headlines. Trench injuries move games — and this week's most underpriced tag is a right guard.
The Packers' starting right guard was added to the injury report as questionable Thursday with a knee issue that's been managed, not new. Public attention has gone almost entirely to a receiver's questionable tag on the other side of the ball, which is understandable but backwards for line impact.
Green Bay's backup at right guard has allowed pressure on 11% of pass-blocking snaps this preseason, against a starter mark of 4%. Minnesota's interior rush has generated the fourth-most pressure in the league when lined up over the guard position specifically.
Line movement follows the names people recognize. Value follows the ones they don't.
If the starter sits, expect the game plan to lean run-heavy and shorten the field — which pushes this number toward the under and makes the current spread less attractive for Green Bay backers than it looks on paper.
